Things to consider and frequently asked questions...

Buying or Selling a Home in Weatherby Lake
  • The W.L.I.C. does not track the sale nor market homes in Weatherby Lake.  We recommend that you contact a local real estate agent to help you.
  • The W.L.I.C. is not a homeowners association with HOA dues.  It is a non-profit company known as the Weatherby Lake Improvement Company (W.L.I.C.).  However, we do issue Annual Assessments to our Members to cover lake maintenance needs.  In addition, there are yearly permit fees for the access spaces, docks, boats and motors you may have.
  • Buying property makes you eligible for lake usage provided all fees have been paid.  But, it does not ensure you will be immediately assigned a space/dock access area.  You are however, welcome to use any of the W.L.I.C. courtesy docks and access ramps.

Buying a boat for Weatherby Lake
If you are purchasing or plan to purchase a boat for use at Weatherby Lake, please consider the following:
  • Length, width and horsepower limits as outlined in the Rules & Regulations.
  • Zebra Mussel prevention protocols related to Used and New watercraft.  Used boats may need to be power-washed and/or quarantined prior to placement on the lake.  New watercraft, from the manufacturer, will need to be inspected prior to placement on the water.
  • Newer boats have two issues that may create unforeseen challenges. 1)  On pontoons, many models come with only one side door which may create exit/entry issues when mooring to a dock. 2)  Widths may exceed Weatherby Lake limits.
Access Area Assignments
  • Currently, there are no available access area assignments available.  However, you may be wait-listed for space at two areas.  Assignments are made as spaces become available when people relinquish them or move away.

Buying or selling a dock
  • If you are purchasing a used dock from a W.L.I.C. Member, you should ensure that it is up to code prior to transfer.  You may call the W.L.I.C. for details or refer to the Rules & Regulations.
  • Likewise, if you have a dock to sell, you are welcome to post your sale on the bulletin board outside of city hall.  Keep in mind, it will need to be brought to code before the new owner may place or move it on the lake.
  • USED docks from outside of Weatherby Lake are not permitted per Appendix D of the Rules & Regulations.
